'Twas a week after Christmas, I know a tad late,
but hey, after all, Christmas is more than a date.
It's a season of joy and of giving, of love,
three things I'm thankful the Wolfs have a lot of.
Two thousand sixteen was a very full year
'twas full of surprises in health, home, career.
I'll give you Wolf highlights, and try not to bore,
as I tell you the tale of how three became four.
Right off the bat, we brought in a new member,
Loki joined us in January, he was born in November.
He's the dog of mischief, a black Labrador,
so friendly and smart, we couldn't love him more.
Loki needed a yard, we needed a house,
so we purchased my mom's and then kicked her out.
She's not on the curb, she's all safe and warm,
she moved in with Becca, she's down at the dorm.
I'm kidding, she bought a new place of her own,
and Becca calls KUMC her new home.
Both are in Arizona down on their vacation
while us three are stuck here in a colder location.
This summer, our road trip was down to KC.
Royals and Legos and pulled pork for three.
A family reunion at Mahoney State Park
was definitely two thousand sixteen's lowest mark.
Anna lost her grandma, but it was her time to go.
It's nice that her family was gathered there though.
Andrew also lost someone, a mentor and friend.
Joe was his name, taken too early in the end.
The house has been work, it's harder to keep clean,
so Anna increased her intake of caffeine.
Loki runs all around and he sheds all his hair,
I too shaved once and for a month I was bare.
In addition to keeping our house nice and tidy
Anna still works at Soma and covers your heinie.
She's quite the saleswoman, and still does ballet,
she works on her writing and hosts her soirees.
Genevieve still dances and swims like a fish,
macaroni and cheese, her new favorite dish.
But that's not the big news when it comes to our daughter
now she's in Kindergarten when she's not in the water.
She's a Humann Husky busy learning to read.
She's ahead for her age, quite smart, yes indeed.
Other big moments for Genevieve this year
included some firsts and conquered some fears.
This year for her birthday she got her first bike,
and much to our content, a gift that she liked.
Her first non-trim haircut and visit to the dentist
we're made easy by Marci and Abby, the hygienist.
So many tears were shed at the girl's dance recital
when dads joined in for a tune, it was quite delightful.
The next time for dress-up, G was one of the cops,
as she donned her Halloween costume, Detective Judy Hopps.
In addition to Loki, Genevieve got her own bunny,
you dress her up in hats and she looks pretty funny.
Anna and I proved how old we've become
with our ten year reunions and seeing old chums.
I've lost count at how many books that we've purchased,
our shelves are turning into a bit of a circus.
We're a family that loves our stories and games,
G's favorite books show you bones, muscles and veins.
Of course my favorite books are the colorful comics,
I suggest buying a lot, it's good economics.
I needed more income for this grand book addiction,
and now I'm back to my old Sunday tradition.
I'm back at the church doing graphic design.
I believe with Trinity, that this marks year nine.
Things at my firm, Edward Jones, are still building.
I thank God each day that my job is fulfilling.
The new part though is that I built my own office.
It has lots of windows, the location is flawless.
New laws that have changed keep my work very busy.
Well that and the church keep my life in a tizzy.
And with two thousand sixteen's awful election
which has half of America feeling abjection,
or Time Warner Cable poisoning our pet,
this is a year that we should not forget.
Anna and I became Godparents to Frankie
no doubt she's a Clabaugh, she just looks just so swanky.
And the Huskers did better, although a sad ending,
next year I hope Mike Riley has them contending.
Well that's it, and again, I'm sorry it's late,
but as they say, good things come to those who can wait.
We hope this rhyme finds you with hope of anew,
from our family to yours, Happy New Year to you!
